In a recent interview with Vulture, 50 Cent spoke out about the pay disparity he experienced while working on his record-breaking series, Power, for the Stars Network.
Despite being initially turned down by several major networks including HBO and Paramount, Stars took a chance on the crime drama which went on to become their biggest show and break multiple records.
However, 50 Cent claims that whenever it was time to renegotiate his deal with the network, there would be issues, which he believes were related to the show's diversity. He claims that the lack of acknowledgement of diversity in award shows is also a problem, despite Power outperforming many other shows.
50 Cent also expressed frustration at the pay he received for his work, stating that he was offered just $17,000 per episode, despite his numerous contributions to the show such as providing the theme song and making it connect with audiences in a different way. While 50 Cent acknowledges that he is paid more to simply appear at nightclubs, he believes that he should receive more recognition and compensation for his work on the show.
