CURTISSKING ON Why He Removed ALL His Music From STREAMING

Hey there! Today, we're going to talk about a musician named CurtissKing and why he decided to take all his music off streaming platforms like Spotify. Let's dive in!

The Frustration with Low Royalties

In the beginning of his video, CurtissKing shares how he's frustrated with the small amount of money he receives from Spotify. He explains that Spotify has a new payment system where artists need to reach a certain threshold to get paid. This means that if an artist doesn't reach that threshold, they won't get any money at all. CurtissKing questions this decision and thinks it's unfair to artists.

Now only $75 (normally $149.99) for a limited time.

Unfair Treatment of Artists

CurtissKing also talks about how Spotify and other streaming websites treat artists differently. He mentions a Twitter thread where famous artists argue with new and upcoming artists about how much they should be paid for their music streams. He criticizes Spotify for favoring established artists and not paying smaller artists enough.

Taking Creative Control

Since CurtissKing is not happy with how Spotify treats artists, he decides to remove all his music from the platform. But he faces a problem when trying to delete his profile. There's no delete button! He finds this strange because controversial artists' music has been quickly removed before. So, he takes matters into his own hands and changes the background of his profile to show his decision. He leaves a message explaining why he removed his music and shows support for other artists who deserve to be paid for their hard work.

The Traditional Music Industry

CurtissKing also talks about the traditional music industry and a company called BMI. He criticizes BMI for increasing the amount of money they take from songwriters' earnings. They used to take 10%, but now they want 15%! This decision has led to strikes by artists and writers who are demanding fair wages.

Unlimited uploads, keep 100% of your earnings, and more features than any other music distributor.

Frustration with the Music Industry

In the end, CurtissKing expresses his frustration with the music industry as a whole. He believes that independent artists are treated unfairly by major labels, and songwriters face many challenges in the streaming world. He emphasizes the low amount of money he receives from Spotify and his decision to remove his music from the platform.
